The Opportunity

Creative Residency at the Pie Bird 2027 Retreat in Roundstone, Connemara | County Galway, Ireland 

The sold out retreat runs from July 8 - 14, 2027 and is co-hosted this year with my friends at Edible Philly, Timberline Farms, Black Market Bakery (yes, our 2026 Creative Resident!) and Roundstone resident/legend Orla Connelly.  

This is a residency for a creative, regardless of field, but connected to or can build connections to a culinary pursuit - writer, baker, cook, farmer, potter, painter, musician, fisher, photographer, maker - anyone involved in a craft as their profession.  

What you need to know:

Room, board and all planned activities with other retreat guests.

Reserved bed in a lovely dorm-style room with 2 beds in the waterfront private residence.

Please note this is a communal living situation - you may share a sleeping space with 1 other and bathroom with 1 - 3 other creative residents.

If you are applying with another creative partner to do a joint residency project, please be sure to note that in your application but please still fill out separate applications per person.

The Requirements:

1. Statement of interest including why you would like to attend, your creative pursuit and how you would like to share that with the other travelers

2. A genuine interest in the content and spirit of the retreat (please review details of this an previous retreats for context), and a desire to travel and share with a community of people in a communal living environment for one week

3. Active participation in the retreat and sharing of your creative process through a workshop, demonstration, performance, meal, skill share or some creative engagement with your fellow travelers during the week (supplies provided as requested)

4. Posting and sharing this opportunity and your experience through your social media channels (if applicable) or other outlet best suited to your communication with your community

5. Development of free workshop or offering to the community, open to local children and/or adults, a pop up meal or concert, whatever your creative outlet is - how can we give back to the community that is hosting us in a meaningful way?

The Details:

You are responsible for travel to and from Galway or Roundstone

You will also be responsible for any costs outside of planned meals, transport and activities such as flights, lodging before or after retreat, incidentals, travel insurance.

You will be required to sign a standard guest waiver
