About the Retreat
When I created this retreat, it was with the goal of sharing a very special place with people, a place that changed the course of my life when I lived here 25+ years ago. It was where I worked on my first farm, lived on a remote island that changed everything and met people that became my chosen family. So hosting this is much more personal than simply a business venture, although I did promise myself I would make sure it was financially viable before adding a residency component.
We hosted our first resident in West Cork this summer and we are now launching 2027!
The Opportunity
Creative Residency at the Pie Bird 2027 Retreat in Roundstone, Connemara, County Galway
The sold out retreat runs from July 8 - 14, 2027 and is co-hosted this year with my friends at Edible Philly, Timberline Farms, Black Market Bakery (yes, our 2026 Creative Resident!) and Roundstone resident/legend Orla Connelly.
This is residency for a creative, regardless of field, but connected to or can build connections to a culinary pursuit - writer, baker, cook, farmer, potter, painter, musician, fisher, photographer, maker - anyone involved in a craft as their profession.
Included:
Room, board and all planned activities with other retreat guests.
Reserved bed in a lovely dorm-style room with 2 beds in the waterfront private residence.
Please note this is a communal living situation - you may share a sleeping space with 1 other and bathroom with 1 - 3 other creative residents.
If you are applying with another creative partner to do a joint residency project, please be sure to note that in your application but please still fill out separate applications per person.
